Moving House guide
You are moving house what do you do next. The first thing you need to do is plan your move. It has been said that moving house is one of the most stressful things you will do in your life. But with good planning it should be an enjoyable experience (well almost).
What you need to do:
With one month until your move:
Inform the gas and electrical companies that you wil be the new owner of the property.
Inform your telephone supplier of your departure date and to arrange the installation or reconection of the phone line.
Have a good clear out it is suprising how much junk we all collect.
With two weeks to go:
Arrange either a removal company or arrange a hire van if doing it yourself

Inform the post office to redirect your mail on date of move.
Inform the local authority of your move and new address.
Arrange for someone to look after your kids and pets.
Start packing what you will not need in the next 2 weeks.
With one week to go:
Cofirm arrangements with gas, electric and phone companys.
Cancel any services you have to the house such as milkman or window cleaners etc.
Pay all outstanding bills.
Start cleaning the house.
Day before the big move:
Have meters read and pay any outstanding amounts.
Defrost the fridge and freezer.
Finish any packing you still have to do and lable boxes.
Finish cleaning the house
Make sure the movers now exactly where you are and where the new property is.
The Big Move Day:
Stay carm.
Ensure everything is taken by removal company or yourself.
Ensure old house is locked up and all doors and windows are secure.
Check that everything has been delivered to new address.
